Flu Vaccinations for Children
Children below the age of 12 must have a prescription from their attending physician in order to receive a flu shot.
- If the prescription from the attending physician contains a specific dosage of flu vaccine, our nurses will follow that prescription.
- If the prescription from the attending physician does not contain specific dosage information, we will follow the dosage guidelines below:
-6 months to 35 months - 0.25 ml IM x (1) one dose if the child has had a flu vaccine in the past.
- 0.2 5ml IM x (2) two doses at least 1 month apart if the child is receiving the vaccine for the first time.
-Child 3 to 8 years - 0.5 ml IM x (1) one dose if the child has had a flu vaccine in the past.
- 0.5 ml IM x (2) two doses at least 1 month apart if the child is receiving the vaccine for the first time.
-Greater than 9 years old
