Breastfeeding
Community Hospital Anderson promotes breastfeeding as the optimal feeding choice for infants and children. It results in so many great benefits for both the mother and child and is the best gift a mother can give. We want to help you have a very successful and rewarding breastfeeding experience.
Community Anderson received the Baby-Friendly Award given by UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2005 for their efforts in the education and promotion of breastfeeding. All nursing staff members are trained in breastfeeding support. Also, a board certified lactation consultant is part of the obstetrics staff and is available during your hospital stay and after you go home to assist with any questions or concerns you may have. We also offer free follow-up infant weight checks 2-3 days after discharge and as needed.
Community Anderson offers a monthly prenatal breastfeeding class, as well as a twice weekly breastfeeding support group for mothers and babies. The support group meets on Mondays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Community Anderson also provides a private area for visiting nursing mothers and infants to breastfeed or pump. Breast pumps and other breastfeeding products are available to rent or purchase.
