Maternity Care: How do we compare?
At CHA, we take pride in the care we provide. To monitor the quality of that care, we track specific quality measures and compare them to benchmark measures. We publish this information so that you can see how effective Community Hospital is in the treatment of Maternity patients.

Cesarean section deliveries (C-sections) can save the life of a mother or baby. However, to avoid unnecessary surgeries, C-sections should be performed only when truly necessary. Rates for C-section deliveries are tracked nationally. CHA rates should be at or below the national goal. |

Emergency cesarean sections are sometimes necessary when a baby or mother is having difficulty during labor. For the best outcomes for both mother and baby, the emergency C-section should be performed as quickly as possible. CHA rates should be at or below the national goal. |

Patient Safety is a high priority goal at CHA. We want our patients to feel safe when they are in the care of our hospital. CHA strives to make the Maternity Ward as safe as possible for our patients. CHA should be above the goal. |

To show advanced skills in caring for Maternity patients, a certification test can be taken by the maternity nurses. By passing this test, maternity nurses show they have the necessary capabilities to take care of Maternity patients in the best possible way. CHA encourages all of nurses to complete the certification exam. |

Breastfeeding provides many benefits for infants and their mothers. Community has received International status of Baby Friendly , supporting our philosophy that breast milk is the optimum choice of feeding for infants. Community has a certified Lactation consultant as well as five certified lactation counselors on staff. Community also offers a weekly breastfeeding support group for mothers after they leave the hospital. |
