Breast Health Services
Our Breast Health Clinic includes a comprehensive approach to breast abnormalities with a multidisciplinary team available on site at the time of your appointment, including medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, a breast health specialist and counselors.
Our breast health specialist serves as a source for logistical planning, education and emotional support both to the patients and families of those diagnosed with breast cancer. She becomes a close friend as she follows the patient through each step of the process from biopsy to surgery to therapy and recovery.
ICCC is participating in the STAR Breast Cancer Trial, supported by the National Cancer Institute. STAR stands for the Study of Tamoxifen and Raloxifene.
These are FDA approved drugs that have been studied and are shown to reduce the incidence of invasive breast cancer in women at high risk for the disease.
ICCC is looking for post-menopausal women ages 35 and older to be one of 22,000 in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to participate in the STAR trial. This trial will contribute medical knowledge about ways to decrease the occurrence of breast cancer in future generations of women.
