Upcoming events at Community Hospital Anderson Free prostate screenings - Saturday, Sept. 20 Community Hospital Anderson will offer free prostate screenings from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Madison County Cancer Care Center, 1340 N. Madison Avenue. The screenings will include prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood testing and digital rectal exams (DRE) of the prostate gland, performed by Salah Elsaharty, M.D., urologist. A DRE is a quick exam to check the prostate. A PSA blood test measures the amount of prostate specific antigen being produced by cells. An abnormally high level of PSA can suggest cancer. Pink and Purple Prevention is our Intention - Saturday, Oct. 4 Community Hospital Anderson has partnered with Alternatives, Inc. and Anderson University to present this women's event from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Anderson University's Kardatzke Wellness Center. October is the awareness month for two important women's issues - breast cancer and domestic violence - which will be highlighted. This event will offer a variety of vendors, educational break out sessions, free health screenings and information, door prizes, light refreshments and more.
